How popular and important is football in Croatia? Well, it’s so popular it caused an earth quake on Wednesday July 11th 2018 across the small nation of Croatia. And I’m not even kidding.
Most people may not realize but history was made on Wednesday July 11th. Croatia, with a population of just 4 million, became the second smallest nation to ever reach the World Cup Football Finals. Uruguay was the first. With a population of almost 1.9 Million back in 1930.
This news caused a sensation across the nation of Croatia. As its citizens watched from their homes, from restaurants and pubs, and from outdoor viewing areas across the country the nation all jump for joy at the exact same time when one of its players scored.
And it caused, what seismic instruments would read as an earth quake. Several times.

As reported by the Faculty of Science, Geophysics Department at the University of Zagreb, seismic instruments in the Croatian nation’s capital recorded earthquake tremors at exactly 10:20 pm and after 10:37 pm on Wednesday July 11th 2018.
Those times perfectly coincided with two historic events in Croatian Football history:
1st - Croatia’s Mario Mandzuki’s goal against England in the 2018 World Cup Semi Finals:

2nd - Croatia’s win over England sending the second smallest nation in history to ever reach the 2018 World Cup Finals.
